Hello everyone
Great news on the skiing front – we’re still able to operate, we made lots of snow this week, we got some natural snow, and the V-hill chair and trails will be open for the weekend. That means we will have all lifts and 100% of our trails with snowmaking open for skiing for this weekend! Following the weekend, the Club will be closed Monday and Tuesday, re-opening Wednesday for the remainder of the week and weekend.
Regarding the new government protocols announced Monday: please refer to the email bulletin sent yesterday. The short version is that we can continue with skiing and programs, however indoor consumption of food & beverages remains closed as a result of the new protocols.
Ski Across with Alpine
At this time, the Ski Across with Alpine scheduled to begin this Sunday is postponed due to a lack of snow at the cut across section. Stay tuned, we will let you know when the ski across resumes.
Enjoying the Patio!
The patio furniture and new fireplaces are very popular once again. And now, as we continue with outdoor dining only, the patio will continue to be a popular spot. We are adding more picnic tables to the area around the deck, and tables are also available on the South Lodge deck and at the North. Please keep in mind that this is a shared space for all, especially during morning coffee break time and over the lunch hour.
Project Generations Update
We have been advised that all items required for occupancy should be complete by end of day Friday, so we anticipate these doors will be available for use starting this weekend. The construction fencing will be adjusted to provide access from the parking lot and a walking surface will be created from the Squire John’s trailer.
Work on the new stairs from the vestibule to Little John continues and we are expecting that access route to be available soon. In the meantime, access to the lifts is available along the front of the Base Lodge. For safety reasons we ask that you please avoid taking skis up the interior staircase from the locker room to the main level of the Base Lodge. We thank everyone for their patience during this phase of construction
Masks Not Buffs!
- Wear a mask! Buffs are not an acceptable option as they do not provide adequate protection.
- Government regulations mandate the wearing of masks indoors regardless of vaccination status.
- Masks are highly recommended in lift lines and on chairlifts and are required when it is not possible to maintain physical distancing of 2 meters.
Guest Tickets – Proof of Vaccination and Reservations
Please note that guest reservations for this weekend (January 8th and 9th) are now full.
If you are bringing guests to the Club this season, please read the following information carefully:
- Guest reservations will continue to be available but on a limited basis, to manage skier numbers and ensure members have priority access to lodge facilities. The number of guest reservations may also vary week to week based on events that may be taking place such as interclub ski racing, and to accommodate inactive members, who are not required to make an advance reservation.
- Guests (12 ) must be double vaccinated and must show proof of double vaccination along with photo ID at the time of purchasing a lift ticket. We are no longer asking guests to submit proof of vaccination prior to arrival as it has proven to not be an efficient process.
- Please be patient – the proof of vaccination process does take some additional time. Our staff are working as quickly as possible to access the reservation information, review the vaccination and ID requirements and sell the appropriate guest ticket(s).
- Guests who are at the Club but not skiing are required to obtain a wristband at the front desk, once proof of double vaccination and photo ID has been provided.
- Members are reminded of the new guest reservation policy, which is posted under “Guest Reservations” in the members’ section of the website.
- Reservations can be made up to 8 days in advance of the required date, on a first come-first serve basis. Reservations for the new day added are available each day starting at 9:00 a.m. and then going forward, reservations can be made on-line with 24 hour access – on line reservations can be made up to 8 a.m. on the day of the visit, pending availability. After 8 a.m., reservations can only be made in person at the front desk, pending availability.

Upcoming By-Law Review
The Governance Committee has begun a review of the Club's by-law and related documents. This is because the
Not-for-profit Corporations Act (Ontario), referred to as ONCA, which was passed in 2010, was finally proclaimed in force on 19 October 2022ONCA applies immediately, but the Club has three years to restate its letters patent as articles of incorporation and revise its by-law, in each case to comply with ONCA. The required review of the by-law is also an opportunity to consider changes that aren’t required by ONCA but are raised by members or identified by the Governance Committee.
The Board anticipates the following timeline for the review:
- 2021 / 22 season - Governance Committee collects member requests, reviews required decisions, develops drafts and reports to the Board
- 2022 annual meeting - update to members
- 2022 / 23 season - Governance Committee consults with members through open house and forum sessions in person and/or online
- April 2023 - Governance Committee reports to the Board with recommended by-law and other documents
- 2023 annual meeting - member approval is sought based on detailed report and drafts provided in advance of meeting
- Following 2023 annual meeting - restated articles of incorporation are filed and new by-law becomes effective
Members are asked to submit questions or suggestions concerning by-law revisions to
[email protected] by 28 February 2022. We don't want to change the Club fundamentally, but we really don't want last minute surprises. Please read the current by-law on the Club website before making suggestions so you understand what may be relevant. (The price of beer at the bar isn't a subject for the by-law.) Please also be patient regarding answers, as it may be next season before full discussion takes place.
