January 20 Update
More snow this week - though the GTA did get a bit more than we did up here! You can look forward to more great skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing again this weekend. Here's this week's update:
Variety and Fun With On Hill Terrain Features
The Club is excited to share a variety of terrain available for all to enjoy!
- The terrain park on Funnel is in great shape with a combination of jumps, rails and boxes.
- Outside of the park on upper Funnel, there are a couple of features to play on along with several features on lower left Funnel, for all ages to enjoy.
- We are also happy to share that we have added a couple of fun entry level features on lower Zipper beside the carpet to add some more variety in this area.
- Prior to attempting any features, be sure to take an inspection run– “Look Before Your Leap”.
- The Cross Track on lower Bowie is now open to all riders. This is a super popular area and if you ever see a Cross Track closed sign, please avoid the track as this means we are either working on the course or it’s not suitable for use. Once again, we strongly encourage an “inspection run” first time through as things may have changed on this course from the previous day.
Our goal is to continually monitor our terrain and runs and add safe and fun options for all to enjoy while skiing and riding around the Club.
Skinning, Snowshoeing and Cross Country Skiing
As noted last week, our cross country trail at the top is now open for your enjoyment. This joins snowshoeing/hiking and skinning in our “alternative winter sports” options.
Hill Access
Backstairs is open every day the Club is operating for access up the hill for snowshoeing/hiking, skinning and cross country skiing. You can climb up Backstairs carrying your cross country skis, however cross country skiing down Backstairs is not permitted – you must carry your skis down.
Alternative access to the cross country trails is to drive up via Scenic Caves Road, turn at Banks and access the trails by parking at the sharp bend in the road - look for the yellow gate.
NEW! Northwest Passage will be closed mid week days to downhill skiers and be open for snowshoeing/hiking and skinning – note this is for operating days only and not when the club is closed.
Northwest Passage will be open to downhill skiers on weekends, and closed for snowshoeing/hiking and skinning.
Chair Access
The Funnel Chair will be available on Saturday and Sunday afternoons after 2 p.m. for uphill access. You will ride as a foot passenger, carrying your skis or snowshoes. Riding is "up" only, access down would be walking down Backstairs as noted above for cross country skiers, skinning down or coming down snowshoe trails.
No Parking Permitted at Craigleith Village
Members are reminded that parking at the Craigleith Village (the North end of the Club’s property) is for residence of the Village only and is on private property. Parking in the Village is not available for snowshoers, hikers or those taking dogs on a walk. Parking for the snowshoe trails is designated in the North Lodge parking lots.
Ski Across With Alpine – It’s On!
We are ready to start the Sunday Ski Across with Alpine as of this coming Sunday January 23rd. A reminder, this option is available to Club members only and not guests, or to ski or race classes. Be sure to wear your Craigleith badge for identification when you are at Alpine. Enjoy!
A Message from Paul Rogers, President and Board Chair of Ontario Track3
You might have missed seeing our red jackets on the slopes of Craigleith last season and so far in 2022. We serve a vulnerable population and have therefore taken a more cautious approach in our return to the slopes. We will be back this weekend to train a new group of volunteer instructors. As always, we are fortunate to have a number of Craigleith members very involved and making a difference and we always welcome new volunteers. We are not sure when our full day programming at Craigleith will resume, but are certainly hoping for next month.
While the pandemic has been a great challenge, we have tried to use the time well. We are entering into our 50th year and have been emphasizing capital renewal (including our facility here at your great Club), improved capabilities (training, technology, talent) and new partnerships.
We have a lot of supporters that make our charity run. Our hill partners are a critical part of our service, Craigleith has long been an important part of our success; we can’t do it without you and hope to see you on the slopes this season.

This is not a requirement under our current vaccine policy, however we will record the information when provided. You can upload via the Member Central page, or forward via email to
